Abstract | This article details the content of a recently released report from the Children's Partnership titled "Measuring Digital Opportunity for America's Children: Where We Stand and Where We Go From Here". On the basis of 40 indicators, the report's Digital Opportunity Measuring Stick showed how U.S. children and young adults use information and communications technology in ways that relate to their achievement, health, economic opportunity, and civic participation. The report also highlighted the fact that a disparity exists in technology usage along low-income and ethnic minority children. However, low-income children enhance their learning opportunities when given access to technology. Recommendations for education policymakers to provide digital opportunities for the youth are also presented. Lastly, this article also provides several brief reports related to technology. (ERIC). |
