Abstract | This longitudinal (2013-17), exploratory, mixed methods case study of a small, secondary school in a high poverty neighborhood located in a major northeastern city, investigates the changes in leadership practices and essential organizational structures during several phases of an improvement effort, supported by a federal School Improvement Grant (SIG). Interviews were conducted with 20 participants including administrators, teachers, and partners. Surveys were administered to the entire staff as well as parents and students. This study points to the importance of trust in school leaders and morale among teachers in ensuring gains in student success. (As Provided). |
