Abstract | Almost half of Latino students in higher education are enrolled at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). While there is documentation of Latino participation in higher education, there is little research focused on Latino student success. One approach to study Latino student success is to focus on these institutions. This Brief describes the findings and recommendations from a 12 month project with six baccalaureate granting HSIs in California, New York and Texas: California State University-Dominguez Hill; City University of New York-Lehman College; The University of Texas at El Paso; California State University-Los Angeles; City University of New York-New York City College of Technology; and The University of Texas at San Antonio. The brief also examines characteristics of institutions that serve Latinos, as well as ways to measure Latino student success and institutional effectiveness. (ERIC). |
