AbstractThis directory describes approximately 300 discretionary projects addressing the early childhood provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It was compiled from four volumes separately published by the ERIC/OSEP Special Project. The discretionary grants and contracts authorized by the 1997 Amendments to the IDEA are administered by the Research to Practice and Monitoring and State Improvement Planning Divisions of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The directory divides the projects into the following seven categories: (1) Research and Innovation; (2) Studies and Evaluations; (3) Personnel Preparation; (4) Technical Assistance and Dissemination; (5) Parent Training and Information; (6) State Improvement Grants; and (7) Technology and Media Services. In each section, projects are grouped by the programs and competitions by which they were funded, and within each competition, they are arranged in order from earliest to most recent. For each project the following information is provided: grant number, title, project director, contact information, beginning and ending dates, and a description of the project's purposes, proposed methods, and proposed products. Access to project information is enhanced by the following four indexes: (1) Project Directory Index; (2) Organization Index; (3) State Index; and (4) Subject Index. (Author/SG)
